Probably the first in a series

Have been holding onto this door for about three years waiting for a good idea to put it to use and finally something came to mind last week. Probably likely to become the first of a series where i use the door in a variety of locations, projecting onto it the view behind.

A beautiful sight, and a billboard

I was pleasantly surprised recently to stumble upon one of my recent images being used on a 2 panel billboard in the heart of Newport. The Image was shot late last year to promote Independent Ballet Wales current touring promotion of Lady of the Lake.

However it seems to have been hijacked by the council to use for promotion of the Discover Dnace Festival, part of Newport 2010’s Festival activities.

Since my return from Spain, myself and Janire Najera have been working on the creation of various digital staging elements for the IBW production so if you have a chance to see it later this year at a venue near you, please pop in and check what we have been up to.

and for those who are interested, no photoshop occurred, this is real people in (and on) a Welsh lake in October*.

*No ballet dancers were harmed during the creation of this marketing image.

A few Light Trail Experiments using a 5m led light pole created by Armin Seltz showcasing the U.R.R.L. Tricycle currently in production for use in Octobers 2010 JET LAG festival in Bilbao.

I am delighted to be exhibiting my ongoing series ‘Abandoned Comfort’ at the former Travelwise store as part of the city councils current Empty Shops project. I have been shooting the series which studies the  issues of fly-tipping around Newport since 2004 and this will be the first time that the images can be seen publicly together.

The 24 images presented in the exhibition have been produced as 42 x 30cm Duo-trans in Light boxes.

The series is on display near the bus station from Monday the 26th of July to Friday the 6th of August.

Tecno-Fovea utilizes an internally lit, site-specific photosphere of the interior space of the Amarika Gallery. Unlike previous photosphere’s this one reflects the environments, acting like a giant 1.3m diameter mirror-ball. Unlike a conventional mirror-ball the photosphere only reflects the space and not the people within it.

Exploring the physical space of the Amarika gallery in Vitoria the piece utilizes perspective typography, colour filtration techniques, 360º photography & 3D computer mapping to raise questions regarding our place amongst the onslaught of technological change and our perceptions of the ever evolving physical & digital landscapes that results from this.

The Fovea is the section of the retina with the most densely packed light receptors and as such is responsible for the majority of colour perception and detail focusing.  In the same way the photosphere will act as the focus point within the room where all information is displayed and accessed by the viewer. The sphere acts as a physical representation of a digital interface, both allowing and restricting particular information access to the people in contact with it. It is the first site-specific photo-spherical sculpture utilizing perspective typography in the world.
